Near the entrance of the Israelites into the land, Moses sends spies to scout the land. In the course of their journey, they reach Hebron: "And they went up in the Negev, and came as far as Hebron, and there Ahiman, Shashi, and Ptolemy, the children of the giant." But one spy, the head of the tribe of Judah - left.

This is Calev Ben of Yapuna, who went to visit the graves of ancestors, and thus said to them: "My ancestors, ask for mercy on me, that I may be saved from the advice of the spies." Calev asks for the blessing of the ancestors in Hebron. The city from which a father gained the courage to stand up to those who did not recognize the right of fathers. The Bible testifies about Calev who "had another spirit with him".

At the beginning of his journey he is in one counsel with the spies, however the meeting with the city of the ancestors awakens a different spirit in him, which leaves you with the strength to say to his people: "If God wills us, bring us to this land, and give it to us."

Calev, coming from the power of ancestral right, succeeds in subduing the giant and his sons residing in Hebron. The giants' negative attachment to Hebron is inversely proportional to Calev's status in Hebron.

The singular language is used in the description of Calev's arrival - and this is where the Bible reveals Calev's power: "And he will come as far as Hebron". And they will not "come" - before the other spies were afraid to come there from the giants.

What did Calev tell the fathers?

Even though these big giants were there, Calev came there. Our sages explain that Calev comes with a double mission: to strengthen himself and to preach to the ancestors. And what did he tell them?

What is Calev property?

A Calev went to tell the fathers that it was time for their sons to come to Israel. Which the Almighty swore to them. Therefore Moses told him that he would have Hebron as his inheritance. Calev, the head of the tribe of Judah - the royal tribe, won a royal house by marrying - so the tradition says - Miriam, the sister of Moses, and from her seed was established the kingdom of Israel, which began in Hebron.
