When the sons of Jacob came to bury their father in the Cave of the Patriarchs, Esau came and stopped them, Esau said: "Yaakov buried his wife Leah in the part that belongs to him, and the part that remains is mine." They said. To him: "And didn't you sell your place in the cave to Jacob our father?" He said to them: "Bring a deed of sale."

Immediately they sent to bring the deed of sale from Egypt, but Chusham ben Dan, who could not bear that his grandfather was put in disgrace, took a stick and splashed Esau's head. And Esau's head rolled into the cave, until it rested in the grave of his father Isaac, and his body was buried by Esau's sons in the field of Machpelah.

There is a version that claims that Judah killed Esau, and there is a claim that Jacob actually killed Esau. According to the Sage Midrash and a Jerusalem translation, Esau's head was buried in the grave of his father Yitzchak, and according to the translation, not only his head, but also the body of Esau was buried by his sons there, if not inside the cave as a body, then in its immediate vicinity, (in the Field of the Temple). span>

Even the sages of Kabbalah find according to the occult theory that Esau's head was buried in the Cave of the Patriarchs. As Rabbi Aharon Brachiya wrote: The head of the externals is like a priest in the holy ordinances and the witness: "Rishia Dashio is buried in the cave of the Machpelah at the feet of Jacob".

In any case, these things indicate that the tradition of burying Esau's head in the Cave of the Patriarchs was widespread in Israel.

This tradition - legend also passed to the Muslims, and they even appointed a Rash This is a certain place in the mosque on top of the cave.
