This was the burial order in the cave:

In tractate Ta'anit in the Talmud it is stated: 'Derech Hesev are graves' - that is, Abraham is in the middle, Isaac is on his right hand side (on the side of his head) and Jacob is below him.

And women were buried with women and people with people:

Adam and Eve, Sarah and Abraham, Jacob and Leah, Rebecca and Isaac.

When Sarah died, Eve got up and received her. When Rebecca died, Sarah got up and was happy to receive her. Leah died and was buried, Rebecca saw her, got up and received her. And when Jacob died, he was buried by her, in one group.

When Abraham went in to bury Sarah in the cave, Adam and Eve stood and refused to accept Sarah. And so why? Because they will be ashamed of their sin. They said to Abraham: "Didn't we deserve that we are ashamed and ashamed before the Creator of the world for our sin, now you come to add - that we should also be ashamed of your good deeds?" Abraham said to them: "Harini asks for mercy from the Creator."

Adam was pleased and gave Abraham permission to bury Sarah. But Eve did not immediately excuse herself until Avraham came and took her in with Adam.
