An event that took place in the Cave of the Patriarchs. Once a minister of Damascus came to Hebron, it will be built and will soon be established in our days Amen. And went to the cave of our ancestors, peace be upon them. He saw a window up in the cave, put his head in the window to see the ancestors and the sword from his belt fell down. And it was worth a lot of money. The minister ordered his men to go down to the cave to bring his sword. About thirty people went down to the cave and died.

Seeing this, he sent for the sun of the cave, and he is a gentile, and said to him: "You are a sun and know the affairs of the cave, therefore I demand of you that you take out my sword for me." The sun said to him: "Call the Jews and they will take out your sword!" And he wanted to kill the Jews by doing so, but the Holy One, blessed be He, in His great goodness, performed miracles and wonders for them that day.

The minister sent for all the sages of Hebron and told them: "Bring out my sword!" What did the rabbi of Hebron do? - There was a sun in the city, old and poor. The rabbi said to him, "Go down and bring the minister's sword!" The sun said to him: "I am afraid to go down to the cave." He said to him: "Don't be afraid, go and take a dip and change your clothes to a rose. I guarantee you!" The Jewish sun walked and did as the rabbi told him. They tied him with a rope and brought him down in front of the minister and his men, and all the Jews are standing and watching.

The sun went down to the cave with a wax candle in his hand. See Abraham and Sarah sitting. Abraham said to him: "Why did you come down?" The sun said to him: "Lord! The whole deed is open and known before you..." And he fell down and kissed his hands and feet. Our father Abraham, peace be upon him, said to him: "First of all, take these people and bring them out." He went and tied them one by one with a rope, and from their place and the unknown outside. Then the sun went to Abraham our father and said To him: "When will our righteous Messiah come?" He replied: "Don't ask that question! We are not allowed to reveal..."

Avraham, our father to Shemesh, also said to him: "I want to reveal something to you. If you do not tell, they will add another forty years to your days, and you will also give birth to a son this year, another that you have not had until now, and if you tell what I spoke to you - you will immediately die! " The sun heard the words of our father Abraham, kissed his hands and came out of the cave.

When he left he went to the rabbi, the rabbi said to him: "I know that Avraham our father, peace be upon him, spoke to you"! The sun answered him: "He did not speak to my people about anything"! The rabbi said: "I didn't talk to you! Don't take anything away from me!" The sun answered him: "I am not allowed to reveal anything to you, lest I die now." - The rabbi said to him: "Your days have reached eighty years and you still want to live!" He told him the incident and immediately died.
