Once a pecha came from Istanbul to the holy city of Hebron, to be built and prepared. And the custom of the Ishmaelites who go on Fridays to pray in the Cave of the Patriarchs, and among them comes a pecha from "Stamboul". He wanted to see what was inside the cave and his sword fell out of the bag. And this sword was a one-of-a-kind sword and it was covered entirely with gold and precious stones, and it was worth a fortune.

He ordered the Ishmaelites to take the sword out of the cave. They took them down with ropes and it wasn't enough, until they were taken out dead. And because he saw the humiliation like this, he said: "What shall I do? And will I believe them all?" - He stood and ordered the Jews to enter the cave and take out the sword. They cast a lot and the lot came out to the righteous "kindness to Abraham", his right will protect us, Amen. And immediately, when the righteous man saw that his fate had fallen upon him, he went to the mikvah and dipped and ascended, and then he was wrapped in shrouds, and all that night the people of Hebron were sitting before him and he demanded words of acceptance from them, in regard to Abraham our father, peace be upon him.

When the dawn broke, he got up and told his friends to pray for him as long as he was inside the cave, that no harm would come to him. He went to the Cave of the Patriarchs and tied him with a rope and went down into it. And since he came down, he returned the sword to them on the rope and said: "The time has come for me to see through it"...

He walked inside the cave and saw one man standing. We were afraid and called out "Hear Israel": and then they asked: 'Who are you?' - He replied: "I am Eliezer, servant of Abraham." Eliezer said to him: "How did you come here?" Eliezer: "Wait here until I ask permission from Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, their right will protect us, if you enter."

The fathers gave permission and he entered. And because of the fear he fainted and did not say to them "peace be upon you". They gave him scents-perfume to smell, he stood up and told them the deed. And since he saw that the place was paradise, he did not want to leave it. The fathers told him: "This is not possible. Now leave and tomorrow you will be with us!"

And all of Israel are greedy, when will they get to see him, because they thought that a disaster, mercy and peace had happened. In the end, they brought him up on ropes and he came home happy and all Israel rejoiced with him. He said to his friends: "So and so is my destiny and so is my will!". And all that night his friends would sit with him and he would demand in front of them in Kabbalah until before morning light. At that time he went down to the mikvah in his home, baptized and put on shrouds and called "Shema Yisrael": ... and his soul came out in purity. And all Israel was sorry that a Chassid was lost.
