Ma'ayan Sara in Hebron is located a little south of Eloni Mamra. The spring is hidden because a mosque was built right over a special and magnificent structure with large columns that support it from the spring. Wide steps lead to a source of fresh water, which springs from the rock.

This is a spring attributed to the Second Temple period, but due to its proximity to the place of residence of the ancestors in Aloni Mamra, some see it as the mikvah of Sarah his mother, hence its name.

In 1997, the State of Israel handed over 85% of Hebron's territory to the Palestinian Authority. Today Maayan Sara, as well as Aloni Mamra, are in the territory held by the Palestinians.

According to the agreement, the Palestinian police were supposed to allow Jews free access to the spring. The Palestinians do not fulfill their commitment, and since the territory was handed over to them, it is not possible for Jews to come to Maayan.
