In the winter of 1975 Avraham Yedidia Nachshon was born in Kiryat Arba. It was a hard winter, the baby was born in a clinic in Kiryat Arba.
After efforts and despite the prohibition and restriction of the military government, the family managed to keep his covenant in the Cave of the Patriarchs on the grave of Avraham Avino. after which it is also called. It was the first circumcision in the Cave of the Patriarchs since the return of the Jews to Hebron, conducted with dedication and in an attempt to maintain a full Jewish life in the city of the ancestors.
Avraham Yedidia, the toddler, lived for only four months, and returned his soul to his creator. (Death in a cradle) "Has the bereaved mother decided that as her son was born in Kiryat Arba and not in a hospital and as her son Avraham Yedidia was the Nachshon in performing circumcision in the cave since the liberation of Hebron, it is fitting that her son should also be the first to be buried in the cemetery in Hebron that took place in the events of 1959.
And so a van with a bunch of guys left on the Hebron road. At the Kiryat Arba intersection, soldiers stopped the convoy and began searching for a coffin, as they were given an order from above, by then Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Defense Minister Shimon Peres.
Sarah got out of the van, opened its doors and said to the commander -- here is the dead man lying in front of you!
They asked to be allowed to pass with dignity and bury the child, but the commander tried to speak to Sarah's heart. 'After all, Hebron will be returned and what will you do then?' 'I understand you, you received an order and you follow it. But I also received an order from above, and I too am just fulfilling it...' she said.
On the road near the intersection, the mother saw that they wouldn't let her pass... and for her part, she informed the commander that she would walk all the way to Hebron. Said and did. Sarah started walking with her son's body in her arms. The checkpoint commander had a hard time stopping her in the situation she created, and passed the news on to the Minister of Defense. The Minister of Security, realizing that the mother was extremely stubborn, gave an order to let the mother move and bury her son in Hebron as she wished."
When the child is buried, there is a need to conduct a regular guard at the cemetery for fear that the child's body will be taken out and his grave will be disturbed.
It can be said that the burial of Avraham Yedidia in Hebron created the Jewish presence there. First in day and night shifts. For this purpose they started walking the streets of Hebron even in the middle of the night. Something that before was accepted as impossible and dangerous.
